Frequently asked questions
What is collagen?
Collagen is a structural protein with the triple helix molecular structure made of three amino acid chains, which forms strong fibers and provides the body with it’s structure. Collagen is the human body’s most abundant protein, making up around 1/3 of total protein content. It ensures the integrity, elasticity and strength of our body's connective tissues, thus maintaining the form and function of our skin, cartilage and bones.
What is Marine collagen?
Marine collagen, is a collagen derived from fish, hence it is also called ”fish collagen”, which contains Type I and Type III collagen molecules.
Marine Collagen has shown to have superior "bioavailability", as compared with collagen from other animal origin. Bioavailability is the rate at which food is absorbed into the blood stream through our intestinal wall. In other words, Marine collagen enters the bloodstream more quickly than any other collagen types.

What is the difference in types of collagen?
There are many different types of collagen – 28, to be precise. However, the most common and well researched types of collagen include: Types I, II and III (90%).
Type I Collagen and Type III Collagen are the most prevalent within our bodies. Type I collagen is accountable for strong hair, skin, nails and bones. Type III serves for bones integrity and for the blood circulation system vessels strength.
Type II Collagen is less prevalent within human body. It is widely present in joints and cartilage. Intake of Type II collagen is mostly for promoting joints health. (found in animal origin collagen, does not apply to fish / marine collagen)

What is hydrolysed collagen?
Hydrolysed collagen is a collagen, processed with the method of first, extraction of the fish gelatin from the natural source (fish skin), and further breakage of the gelatin protein structure into smaller amino acid sequences (peptides) mainly containing glycine, proline and hydroxyproline, using bioactive enzymes as the cleavage instruments.
Due to very small molecular weight of the peptides (4 kDa), superior bioavailability is reached, and the delivery of the collagen molecules occurs where it is most needed.

What is the origin of Col Du Marine™ collagen?
Our marine collagen ingredient – Naticol ® HPMG is proudly produced by the industry leader, Weishardt Group (France), who stands as one of the pioneers of marine collagen production in the world. Naticol ® HPMG is produced according to highest quality standards, and is considered as a benchmark product for marine collagen. Here are some facts about Naticol ® HPMG:
It is produced via gelatin phase; hence, the peptides sequence is 100% controlled
It is produced from sustainable wild and aquaculture sources only
It has 100% neutral smell, taste, flavor – crystal clear once diluted
It is in micro granulated form, contributing to its superior dilution in a drink
It is a natural product, and is not classified as a “food additive” – hence no “E” mark.
It is produced according to ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 standards
It is Halal and Kosher certified
Each produced batch is tested subject to residual water, nutritional value, heavy metals and microbiology. Only fully checked batches, which are traceable from A to Z and have full safety documentation according to EU regulations are becoming our product – Col Du Marine™.
Final manufacturing of Col Du Marine™ is done in EU on contracted pharma and nutraceuticals accredited facilities.

Why Col Du Marine™ collagen better than other marine collagens?
It is very important to understand, that only collagen, processed via very gentle hydrolysis and passing over all phases, necessary to deliver exact sequenced peptides may bring its fantastic results.
The fish skins have to be cleaned many times, to be free of any foreign body, such as fat, meat, bones and scales. The extraction of the collagen via straight enzymatic hydrolysis of the skin, without passing gelatin phase is also not correct, as the treatment temperatures have to be low, and enzymes which are responsible for particular amino acids sequence creation may easily get out of control.
Unfortunately, a lot of collagen products are based on ingredients, which are not proven to have controlled patented production method and specification. If the amino acid sequence in a collagen does not correspond to what it should correspond to, it may be considered just as a protein, which may contribute to overall health, but will not complete its mission – to boost body’s own collagen production.
Hence, choosing your marine collagen supplement cannot be a gamble, so neither beautiful designs nor the “marketing dosed” low concentrated products, promising to change your skin within a short time, should be your directive for the choice. Only proven trademarks may be both beneficial and cost effective for you. Col Du Marine™ is a guaranteed top-quality branded collagen, with the highest possible peptides’ concentration, which gets the promise delivered – contributing to your youth and health.

How is Col Du Marine™ collagen made?
1)Degreasing, often called defatting or fat trimming, is the removal of fatty acids and any other foreign body from the skins.
2) Acid treatment in order to break the natural collagen structure from the natural source
3) Extraction of the fish gelatin
4) Purification - the removal of impure chemical elements from the gelatin mass.
5) Enzymatic hydrolysis is a process in which enzymes cleave protein bonds into peptides at the particular sequence (collagen amino sequence)
6) Concentration reducing the water content in a mass
7) Ultra Filtration – filtration is done at 4 kDa filter ensuring therefore that fish taste and odor are removed (filter smaller than the cigarette smoke)
8) Sterilization to ensure product is 100% safe
9) Spray drying is a method of producing a dry powder from a liquid or slurry by rapidly drying with a hot gas.
How to use Col Du Marine™ collagen?
The best way to use Col Du Marine™ collagen is to add it into morning coffee, smoothie, room temperature water, juice or any other beverage of your choice (except tea). It has to be mixed into a beverage until fully diluted. Col Du Marine™ collagen may be consumed both, on an empty stomach and together with other food. It is also possible to add Col Du Marine™ collagen in many types of food, including salad dressings, soups, desserts and bakery products.

Smoother skin on the wrist areas (this area is noticed the most)
Radiant skin look, comparable to serum-based cosmetics use
If tracked from the first day of intake – visible result on wrinkles
Tangibly stronger hair and nails (thicker, growing faster)
Relief of moderate tendons and cartilage problems
Overall better feeling – due to improve of the blood vessels function and intestinal health
For the full impact, we recommend the course of 12 weeks to be completed, and it may either be continued further as a routine, or repeated after each three or six months.
